"We had set ourselves a growth target of 9% for 2023. The fact that we exceeded this ambitious target and continued to grow in saturated markets makes us proud as a company. It reflects the quality of our products and their benefits for users and patients. To continue to inspire our customers with innovative products in the future, we will focus our investments even more strongly on our core product areas. In this context, we have decided to discontinue the sterilization container area gradually. However, there is no cause for concern for our employees in the sterilization container area. We value every one of them and the commitment they have shown over the last few years. Therefore, we will offer them an appropriate alternative job within the KLS Martin Group," says Managing Director Michael Martin.
The company group generated around two-thirds of its turnover with implant systems. This is followed by surgical instruments, solutions for high-frequency and laser surgery, surgical lights, and medical supply units.
"2023 was not only a historic year for us regarding figures. We also reached a major milestone. In November, our three large operating German companies became one company, which now operates under the name KLS Martin SE & Co. KG. This extensive internal project has demanded a great deal from all our employees, and the MDR has also continued to tie us down in terms of resources. We want to take this opportunity to thank all our colleagues for their great commitment," says Thomas Hipp, Managing Director at KLS Martin.
The number of employees rose 11% last year to over 2,100 worldwide. Around 50% of employees are based at the company's German sites in Freiburg, Mühlheim, and Tuttlingen.
The company intends to maintain its growth trajectory in the future. "Our employees are the key to the success of the KLS Martin Group. We want to continue to offer attractive jobs in the future and are therefore investing a mid-double-digit million euro amount in new buildings and the revitalization of existing premises at our German locations alone over the next five years. We recently acquired a 10,000 m² site near our company premises in Mühlheim an der Donau. For us as an international company, which generates around 90% of its turnover abroad, this is a strong commitment to Germany as a business location and also a signal to our employees," says Christian Leibinger, Managing Director.
