Founded in 1947, the Pestalozzi Children's Village is the first and oldest children's village in Germany. Today it is a safe home for around 140 children who have experienced psychological, physical, or sexual violence in their families of origin. To help them deal with the trauma they have experienced, the association offers a variety of child-friendly therapies in the Children's Village's therapeutic center. These play a decisive role in helping the children overcome their fears and traumas and thus regain the self-confidence they need to lead independent lives. The Children's Village relies on donations to finance the therapies, as the Youth Welfare Office only partially covers these costs.
"I have two children myself and find the idea horrible that there are children who have to endure violence in their families and have such terrible experiences. I am very glad that the Children's Village offers these children a safe retreat, a loving environment, and help for their later lives. I am therefore very pleased that we can contribute a small part to this great mission with our support," says Christian Leibinger.
