"Everything started for us in the district of Tuttlingen in 1896 - my great-great-grandfather founded a small company. Today, we employ around 930 people in the district alone, which has risen to over 2,100 worldwide. Even though we operate internationally, we as a company and I have close ties to our home region. I am, therefore, very pleased to give something back to the district and, above all, to the people who do good here. This year, we are supporting the food bank in Tuttlingen and the "Family Education" project of the Tuttlingen district association of the German Red Cross (DRK)," says Christian Leibinger, Managing Director of KLS Martin SE & Co. KG.
The DRK's "Family Education" project will start in the second quarter of this year. The project aims to make it easier for expectant and new parents from the district to enter the new phase of life and give babies a good start by offering a wide range of courses. The courses range from parent preparation courses and playgroups to individual consultations. In addition to the classes, the existing DRK clothes store is being expanded to include initial outfits for babies, maternity wear, and toys.
For many years, the Tafelladen has been a central point of contact for socially disadvantaged people to purchase high-quality, tested food at significantly reduced prices - through every crisis. However, the food bank is more than just a cheap shopping opportunity for its customers. It is a meeting place where social interaction between people is just as important, and the staff are always ready to listen to everyone. When handing over the donation, the head of the food bank, Katharina Schlenker, reported on the growing need for people and the increasing number of customers. "That's why we are pleased about the support provided by the generous donation from KLS Martin. Only together can we succeed in providing good care for the many people in need," explains Deacon Jürgen Hau, Managing Director of the "Diakonische Bezirksstelle."
