The family-run medical technology company KLS Martin Group has opened its new plant in Fridingen, Germany. The instrument production, previously located at the company's site in Mühlheim an der Donau, moved into the former Lawton GmbH & Co. KG building, which has been renovated and modernised.

"A state-of-the-art instrument production facility is a great expansion for us and an important milestone in the entire production process", emphasized Managing Director Christian Leibinger at the opening ceremony. "The move only took 10 days. The entire workforce from various departments helped and made this unique achievement possible. Heart, soul, and tireless effort have been invested in the building. I can deeply thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this possible", says Antonio Mancino, Director of Production Instruments. Stefan Waizenegger, mayor of Fridingen, also spoke a few words and made a positive outlook on the shared future.

The starting point for the project was given in 2022. The Weber Planungsgesellschaft and the KLS Martin project team, led by Antonio Mancino, took on the renovation and relocation planning. Two years later, the KLS Martin Group was able to move into its new instrument production facility. In addition to the move, the existing machinery was expanded and now covers almost twice the size of the previous production in Mühlheim. The surgical instruments are produced on a state-of-the-art production line covering over 1,400 m².

The instrument production was able to start running operations in September. The significantly shorter distances between production and development enhance closer collaboration, which is already proving to be a significant added value to the new building after just a few weeks. The new rooms and modern workplaces support the exchange between employees and create an atmosphere that encourages cross-departmental conversations.

The new location offers many opportunities for growth, further development, and space to bring new production technologies in-house in the next coming years.
