Distractors and fixators

The insights which the Russian surgeon Gavril Ilizarov gained rather accidentally in the 1950s are standard knowledge today and clinical practice would be unthinkable without it. More still: In many cases, distraction osteogenesis now represents the method of choice. With numerous innovative and revolutionary distraction systems, KLS Martin has made a major contribution to establishing this technique in craniomaxillofacial surgery for use in operating rooms all over the world. There is hardly any craniomaxillofacial problem to which we have not responded by designing a special distractor to solve it.

But we go beyond that: with new, innovative product details, we're helping to improve patient comfort, clinical safety, and enable users to master even the most complex challenges.

Maxdrive® Hex Head Screws

Explanting distractors is often very difficult, as the conventional osteosynthesis screws are hardly visible and often overgrown by bone. The KLS Martin Hex Head screws can be an interesting alternative to the osteosynthesis screws in this tricky situation.
Thanks to the raised screw head, overgrowth of soft tissue and bone is made more difficult and the screw is easier to see, which makes subsequent removal much easier.

Hex Head Screw product features

Product features

•    The screw heads of all Hex Head screws come with the regular maxDrive® attachment.

•    Despite the usual removal via 1.2 or 1.5 mm maxDrive® blades, the exposed hexagonal screw head offers a reliable and safe anchorage point for screw removal via the patient screwdrivers of KLS Martin (51-525-85-07 for 1.2mm hex head screws, 51-500-90-07 for 1.5mm hex head screws).

•    The screw shaft is based on the introduced KLS Martin Drill Free geometry.

Micro Zuerich Distractor

Places of action

•    Basically, these screws can be used whenever 1.2mm and 1.5mm Micro screws are used, e.g. in cases of internal mandibular distraction, particularly using Micro Zurich distractors with small children, that are generally complicated.

•    However, it is important to consider the anti-relapse ratchet when using hex head screws on corresponding distraction devices to avoid any interference.
