HBS 2 Resorb Mg and mm.CS
After more than 100,000 successful HBS and HBS 2 implantations worldwide, a new era begins with the introduction of HBS 2 Resorb Mg compression screws. This innovative screw, made from a special magnesium alloy, retains the proven HBS 2 geometry and is now bioabsorbable. As a result, patients can avoid a second surgery for metal removal.
Magnesium implants undergo a controlled degradation process in the body, during which they are converted into bone and hydrogen gas is released. A specialized surface conversion reduces the implant's corrosion, reducing the degradation rate, which is crucial for fracture healing and integrating the implant into bone tissue.
Our resorbable screw portfolio, including HBS 2 Resorb and mm.CS implants from our partner medical magnesium feature cannulated, headless compression screws in five different diameters. This allows for use across a wide range of indications. All screws are self-tapping and can be used with familiar and proven surgical techniques. The only additional step is countersinking, which helps reduce the insertion torque during implantation.
