Optimized safety and efficiency in the OR: RFID solutions for surgical instruments

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a cutting-edge technology that uses radio waves to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. Each tag contains a unique identifier, allowing for precise and efficient tracking of every instrument.

About RFID Technology

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a cutting-edge technology that uses radio waves to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. Each tag contains a unique identifier, allowing for precise and efficient tracking of every instrument.

An RFID system consists of a transponder tag, a reader that uses electro-magnetic waves, and a software program for digital management. RFID tags can be applied to existing instruments in the hospital, as well as new instruments from the manufacturer, using a patented robotic solution.

We use a standard Ultra High Frequency (UHF) RFID chip, which enables the scanning of multiple tags simultaneously, such as a tray full of instruments.

The software

The software system converts raw data into actionable insights, enabling real-time tracking and management of tagged medical devices and instruments.

The RFID tag

A small, blue tag, that does not interfer with use and that can handle up to 2,500 sterilization cycles.

The reader

We offer various RFID scanners, including this smaller reader for packing or larger checkboxes for instruments to be scanned in bulk instantly.

Advantages of using RFID technology for surgical instruments

Enhanced patient safety

The solution enhances patient care by ensuring that all surgical instruments are accurately tracked and maintained. This means that the instruments used in the OR are complete and fully functional.

Increased ROI

By reducing the time spent on manual counts, minimizing human errors, and preventing surgery delays due to missing instruments, hospitals can save both time and money. The streamlined process also increases staff produc-tivity and operational efficiency, making the investment in our system highly beneficial.

Legal compliance

Ensure compliance with ever-evolving regulations regarding the safety and traceability of surgical instruments, including the latest UDI and MDR regulations (Deadline: 2024/2027).

Improving sustainability

By minimizing waste, reducing unnecessary procurement, and maximizing the lifespan of instruments, Caretag's inventory management solutions empower healthcare professionals to operate more sustainably.

Effortless integration

Our system is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, requiring minimal training. Our software solution and RFID tags are highly adaptable and can seamlessly integrate with your hospital's existing infrastructure.
